BY SELECTING THIS COURSE, YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR THE PALS SKILLS SESSION ONLY. The self-directed, comprehensive eLearning Heartcode PALS course consists of realistic patient scenarios via eLearning simulation which allow students to assess and provide treatment to patients in virtual healthcare settings. Students will then be presented with a team dynamics lesson and 12 in-hospital patient cases, which may be repeated as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. If this is your very first time taking PALS, we suggest you register for the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Initial Course. **IMPORTANT COURSE NOTES: ^Online Supplemental Course Required BEFORE attending in-person instruction ^Visit COURSE LINKS TAB for link to register for PALS Online Supplemental Course ^Review complete refund policy under FAQ tab Students must pass the online exam with a score of 84% or higher to qualify and attend the hands-on skills session that is required to fulfill the course completion requirements. After completing Part 1 of the PALS Online Supplemental course, print the certificate and bring it with you to present to your instructor on the day WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR SKILLS SESSION: This skills session will cover the practical component required by the American Heart Association (AHA) to receive your PALS provider card. After presenting your certificate of completion to your instructor for the online portion of the course, students will then practice skills before testing. Following this opportunity to practice, your instructor will then test your skills by asking you to perform scenarios without any assistance or intervention from the instructor. Students will be tested on the following skills: • Child CPR and AED • Basic and advanced airway techniques • MegaCode Team Dynamics in accordance with scope of practice • Intraosseous Access After you have completed part 1 of the online portion of the PALS course, print the certificate and bring it with you to present to your instructor on the day of your skills session. Your American Heart Association certification card will be given to you the same day after successfully completing the training and is valid for 2 years.
